ECG Webinar Series

AACVPR is excited to bring back our five-part webinar series for its second year! This offering will cover essential 12-lead ECG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition skills tailored for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation professionals. Cardiologist Franklin H. Zimmerman, MD, FAACVPR, author of ECG Core Curriculum, will review real clinical cases to explore:

  1. Fundamental concepts of ECG electrophysiology and vectors
  2. Electrocardiography of acute and chronic coronary artery disease
  3. Arrhythmia interpretation
  4. Pacemaker electrocardiography
  5. Chamber enlargement, bundle branch block and preexcitation
  6. Pharmaceutical effects, QT syndromes and metabolic disorders

Registration for the ECG Webinar Series is coming soon. Stay tuned!

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the electrophysiologic basis for the normal ECG
  • Properly identify and measure ECG intervals, segments and waves
  • Demonstrate understanding of the vector concept and their relationship to ECG findings, avoiding reliance on pattern recognition
  • Learn how to diagnose chronic coronary disease and differentiate acute coronary syndromes from “infarction imitators”
  • Diagnose atrial and ventricular ectopic complexes, tachyarrhythmias and bradyarrhythmias
  • Recognize chamber enlargement, bundle branch block and preexcitation
  • Describe heart block and pacemaker electrocardiography
  • Identify the effects of medications and metabolic disorders on the ECG
  • Using structured reporting to interpret “real world” examples
  • Recognize “red flags” that warrant intervention or adjustment of exercise
